Live Blog: Brett Myers’ Second AAA Start

Myers’ night is over.  He went 7.1 innings giving up 2 earned runs for the win.  He struck out 6 and walked 2.  He left the game with a 4-3 lead and runners on first and second.  He threw 114 pitches and made a great improvement over his last AAA start.  Myers (1-1) will likely make one more start in Lehigh and be back in the rotation after the All-Star break.

Seventh Inning – With 15 pitches, Brett Myers struck out the side for the IronPigs who maintain a 4-3 lead over Louisville. Myers has thrown 100 pitches – 67 for strikes. (7 IP, 2 ER, 6 K, 1BB)  Myers’ spot in the batting order is due up this inning so we’ll see if he goes past the 100 pitch mark tonight.

Sixth Inning – Myers gave up 2 runs in the inning (one earned run).  Myers have 85 pitches through 6 innings.  Brett is off the hook for now.  The IronPigs offense has rallied in the bottom of the 6th inning to give Myers the lead by a score of 4-3.  Myers is now the pitcher of record in line to win the game.  Myers looks better than Adam Eaton did tonight in the big leagues.

FifthInning – Myers has looked very strong through five innings.  He notched his third strikeout in a 1-2-3 inning.  With 73 pitches under his belt, Myers’ line is: (5 IP, 1 ER, 3K, 1BB)

Fourth Inning – Myers gave up 1 hit and 0 runs in the fourth inning.  Myers, through 4 innings, has thrown 60 pitches.  (41 strikes – 19 balls). (4 IP, 1 ER, 2K, 1BB)

Third Inning – Myers settled down in the third inning.  In 9 pitches, Myers shut Louisville down 1-2-3.  (3 IP, 1 ER, 2K, 1BB)

Second Inning – Myers gave up three straight singles and one run to Louisville in the second frame.  He did manage 2 strikeouts with his 24 pitches for the inning. (2 IP, 1 ER, 2K, 1BB)

First inning – It took Brett Myers only 10 pitches to get through the first inning of his second minor league start for the AAA Lehigh Valley IronPigs.  Myers surrendered 0 hits and 1 walk.
