Utley, Lidge All-Stars; Phils Lose Sabathia

Chase Utley will get to play in Yankee Stadium for the first time in his life in the park’s final season.  Utley is joined by teammate Brad Lidge on the National League All-Star team

Utley, who got the most votes by any player in the National League, will start the Mid Summer Classic at second base.  Lidge will make his second All-Star game appearance.

Pat Burrell is a member of the ‘Final Vote’ selection process.  Fans can click here to help add Burrell to the NL roster.

As if the 12th inning lose to the Mets wasn’t bad enough for Phillies’ fans, it was reported tonight that the Milwaukee Brewers won the C.C. Sabathia sweepstakes.  The Phillies will have to shift their focus to Erik Bedard, A.J. Burnett, and Brian Fuentes.

Peter Gammons reports the trade will be finalized and announced on Monday morning.

  1. I have to say I feel like here we go again with the Phillies missing out on a trade. Sure we may still get Bedard or Burnett, but more than likely we will get another mediocre pitcher like we always do.

Now it appears we need to make another deal for a set up man. We absolutely need a back up plan for Tom Gordon.
