Phillies Re-Sign Lidge

Todd Zolecki of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports that the Phillies have resigned Brad Lidge.  Lidge signed a 3 year – $37.5 million deal to remain with the Phillies.

Lidge is 2-0 with a 0.77 ERA this year.  Additionally, he has 19 saves in 19 opportunities.  Lidge should join Chase Utley, Cole Hamels, and possibly Pat Burrell on the All-Star team later today.

  1. Kudos to Pat Gillick and his team. This locks up the closer and anchors the bullpen, lets Brett Myers know he has no shot at being a closer in Philly, and shows the fans they are willing to do what it takes to win year in and year out!
