Tim Panaccio is reporting that the Flyers are in talks with the Phoenix Coyotes about a possible Jeff Carter for Ilya Bryzgalov trade.
Bryzgalov is a free agent, and any deal would be contingent on signing a multi-year deal in Philadelphia, but this would make sense for the Flyers.
Philadelphia has plenty of scoring power, especially with the emergence of James van Riemsdyk in the 2011 playoffs. With that offense, a healthy Chris Pronger and a top goalie, the Flyers would have to be one of the early favorites to win the East next year.
Bryzgalov would be able to mentor his fellow Russian goalie Sergei Bobrovsky, and according to Panaccio’s reporting, would relish the chance to play for a team with great fan support like Philadelphia.
